At DMG, we prefer our clients host their own landing pages. The following is a simple overview of the process on how to set up everything you will need to get your new landing page up and running.
First off, you will need to select a website host to publish your landing page. This includes the purchase of a Domain Name (URL) and a hosting plan. Some services will include the Domain Name service with the purchase of a hosting plan.
Pro Tip: Your choice of a web host will directly affect your landing page, its performance, and your business. Choosing a reliable hosting provider will give your landing page enhanced security, a good server response time, automated features to streamline site maintenance, and 24/7 support that is always ready to assist you.
If you do not currently have a hosting service, you will need to purchase one. A web host is a service that connects your Domain Name to the world wide wide and allows you to manage the content of your landing page. (GoDaddy and Bluehost are two examples of hosting.)
Select which tier of hosting to purchase. Usually, a Linux-based server plan is the least expensive option and the easiest to set up.
When in doubt on what hosting plan to pick, the “shared hosting” plans are usually for landing pages with minimal technical demands and you can always upgrade if needed.
Choose a Domain Name by using the search function on the hosting platform that has been purchased. Keep in mind, choosing a name that is memorable and easily verbally conveyed is best. If the Domain Name you've chosen is not available, select a variation that is the closest and still on brand. (e.g. LandingPage.net - LandingPageHere.com - LandingPageURL.org)
Common extension options to choose from are .com, .net, .org.
In order for DMG to make your landing page live, we'll need FTP or File Transfer Protocol Access. The hosting platform will have an excellent customer service department to assist with the setup process.
Once FTP access has been successfully established, please provide your DMG Representative with the login credentials (Username and Password) so that we can access the server and upload the landing page files to the directory of your choice.
We can place your landing page in any directory on your server that corresponds with the URL you would like to present.
(Examples: YourLandingPage.com/Marketing - YourLandingPage.com/Offers - YourLandingPage.com/Info)
There are many benefits for having a SSL Certificate. These benefits include, keeping sensitive data collected on your website safe, having a positive effect on Google ranking, and can improve the landing page speed as well as avoiding "website not secure" messages which could impact the trust of the user.
The SSL Certificate is responsible for encrypting a secure connection between the client and the server and updates your HTTP:// domain to HTTPS://. Some hosting plans include a SSL Certificate but it maybe have to be purchased separately.
We stand by our work! Our warranty covers any defects, bugs or other service issues. A ‘bug’ is considered any landing page feature which no longer functions as it did during the approval process phase. A ‘defect’ is considered a significant issue that disrupts the main functionality of your landing page.
Your landing page will be tested to work on the following desktop browsers and mobile browsers.
While we will test on these browsers to ensure that functionality is not interrupted, we cannot guarantee all design and features will function as expected. This is due to factors such as keeping web browser versions up-to-date and uncommon browsers being used.
